Most of the book takes place in Hyde Park, where she  raised four children and started a modern dance company. She was a long-time parishioner of St.Thomas Apostle Church, where she collaborated with organist Thomas Weisflog on site-specific organ-and-dance concerts. A University of Chicago graduate, she received a Master of Theological Studies from Catholic Theological Union.

Maggie has published fiction in The Sun, Nimrod, Rosebud, Paper Street, Kaleidoscope and others, and her essays have appeared in America, Image, Writer’s Chronicle and others. An excerpt of her memoir was published in ACM/Another Chicago Magazine, where it received a Literary Reward from the Illinois Arts Council. She has been nominated twice for the Pushcart Prize and had a residency at The Ragdale Foundation. She is currently working on a novel.
